Couple Likes

First of my likes is cool old people. Old people come in two flavors, grumpy and cool. I think cool old people are best people to talk to because they're generally happy about just being alive and they have so many fascinating stories to tell. Similar to how "to do is to learn", I believe that "to listen is to learn". There's no reason to reinvent the wheel, so that's why I try to extract pearls of wisdom from old people's stories to help better my future and understand of things. Plus it makes them really happy to talk about stuff with anyone.

Another thing I like are Studio Ghibli films. They just touch the heart and feel so good. It's hard to describe. You either know what I mean, or you just haven't watched a Hayao Miyazaki film yet.

Totoro + Cupcakes = jfkdklfa;lhgg!!!

Timing

I haven't talked to my aunt in a solid year. Well I guess I should kind of explain how she's a self-proclaimed beotch, but you know how there's always that one Filipino aunt or uncle in the family that's just too good for everyone else...yea that's her. I don't want to go into deals about what happened, but basically we stopped talking to each other.

Well I had a dream yesterday and it really motivated me to try to make good with her. She's very proud and all that so she would never admit fault about anything, so I think I'll just take the blame for it all and make amends. Now is the time, and I can see more than just a reconciliation in the future...this could possibly tie all the loose ends in my life together. It's kind of weird, but I think that dream was to point me into the right direction so that I can balance school, work, and church better and accomplish everything I need to do.

I guess this is to be continued..

Boring

After the pure delight of chatting with people like Cherie, Ryan, etc... (by etc. I mean those are basically the only two people haha!), the only thing that keeps me going is the idea of finding a new job. Sad. Having the time to search for a new job online is the only thing that makes me happy about my current job.

internetz

GREAT DAY!

But I am sad to admit that I didn't accomplish my goal of being one of the first 50 people to sign-up or utilize a brand new web site =/

It turns out that www.tweetfromabove.com creates new twitter pages and so what I thought was the 27th tweet via their site was actually the 297th. Not bad, but still didn't hit my goal. Guess I just have to nerd-out harder!

I am just loving robo.to btw. You don't even understand how gay I am for that site. For cereal. Actually everything Particle brand seems wicked cool! Design, functionality, and usability are all boss with those guys seems like. I even signed up to be notified when beta testing becomes available for www.uooo.tv . They have it on the hush, but I've never been more excited for a site release! I see a t.v. and I see a bigfoot and that's all I know about the site, but they've already sold me!

RANDOM THOUGHT: I wonder what it'll be like in the future when I read the stuff I've blogged about. Maybe I'll say something like, "hahaha... Oh past RJ, your people were so funny back then with your 'www's and your '.com's. I can barely even remember before the internet became transmitted through gamma waves directly to the brain."

A bite out of Apple

I hate to admit this...but I think Apple is slipping a little. They even got the FCC on their backs about the whole apps approval process and what constitutes an acceptable app. I think Apple's really acting like a gay about Google Voice especially. Why do they even care? From my understanding it's Apple that gives out the approvals and if they allowed an EXTREMELY useful app like Google Voice, it could only help iPhone sales because it would make people who want an Android-installed phone think twice. Of course it could potentially hurt At&t, but that's what they get for their ridiculous prices on below-par service. The don't even have the fastest 3G network according to almost all the studies done on wireless carriers and don't even get me started on signal strength. Boourns to you guys.

Oh, and I never liked how the iPhone had visible screws on the bottom, near the speakers. I find it hard to believe that with all the money they put into designing the phone, they couldn't avoid the visible screws.

And lastly, the box for Snow Leopard. The past designs for OSX were catchy and fitted the nature of the OS perfectly I thought, but now it's very meh.

See what I'm saying. I feel like I'm looking at a powerpoint slide from a 7 year old's "I wanna be a Leopard when i grow up" presentation.

The sun makes me sleepy

It was an active weekend for little ol' me.

Friday night cosmic bowling was funnn. I started using my two finger approach to get the ball to curve and now I'm a good bowler. It's weird.

We had our locale's 19th anniversary celebration on Saturday. We had it at Golden Gardens Park in Seattle, which is actually the only sand beach in Seattle. It was set up pretty nicely because we had all the chairs and food set up in the midst of this patch of trees, but the ground was still sand so we had all the shade we wanted.
Didn't do much besides eat, lay around on the beach talking, and played some volleyball. Ube cake and lechon. mmmmm yummm. not together of course.

and for the audio/visual part of my post.... a lovely short film

Hachi is friggin tiiiiiight. And what's amazing is that he's probably not even the most knowledgeable kido practitioner (that title belonging to Tessai Tsukabishi).

and that's just the coolest chapter title page and chapter name.

Mathalicious

Yes I am majoring in mathematics. Yes I love it. Yes I have been classified as a geek a few times.

But look what math + geek =

Yes that is correct. You are looking at the most basic equation for determining the rate of zombification during an outbreak. By basic I mean that no additional factors are entered such as the ability to quarantine infected individuals, the ability to obtain a cure, and etc.

So yes, this is one of the reasons why I love math.

Actually my whole entire outlook on mathematics changed in high school thanks to a geometry teacher by the name of Mr. Gomez. He was a real down-to-earth guy and he tried his best to help his students realize that math alone is mostly arbitrary for the major of the population. So why do we take math classes? Because of thought processes it forces individuals to develop. Certain styles of math require different analytical abilities that people can develop with practice. It's essentially a way to teach people to think differently and more in depth about the world around them.

So from that class on I loved math. And it's probably a contributing factor to my weirdness.

Something else that helped me realize the benefits of math was the book Freakonomics. Well statistics is a form of math and the author of this book used a lot of those for sure, but I loved how he found correlating patterns in random everyday things and figured out how they related to each other. It kind of reminds me of A Beautiful Mind. haha I have a few theories of my own, but it's just a matter of doing the research to prove my theories are true. That will be a big blog when the time comes =P

I love higher level math because it forces me to really exercise my brain. Holding module ideas in all the corners of the mind while trying to figure out how to piece them together, all the while obeying the rules and forms for each respective "idea" (equation, system, etc).

It's so exciting!!!

Bots

Look! It's the pixelated comical representation of me.

Cake!

I am so excited for Fall to come! EEEE!

When I think about it I that one hymn always pops into my head.... the one where the chorus goes, "my heart belongs to you".... but the only thing that really repeats are the words "my heart".

Today was my parent's 26th Wedding Anniversary. YAY for my parents! haha

I went to this amazing little bakery called Simply Sweets in Fremont and bought my parents a cake from there to surprise them with the simple gift of food. It was called a Chocolate White Chocolate Cake and was comprised of a dense chocolate cake with chocolate pieces in it, covered in a dense and rich white chocolate frosting, and then covered with a mound of dark chocolate shavings.

It was so rich that you could only eat a small sliver per one sitting. It's a heavenly heart-attack cake.

Anyway, I might as well publicly announce that I love my parents.

More Movies

It's sad when I think about things to blog about, but not enough time write a post.

G.I. Joe was tight. I came into the movie with super low expectations, but it accomplished what it set out to do which was entertain with a number of action sequences. All of the aspects of the story were pretty well balanced and it never really seemed to drag. oh..and snake eyes is BA.

Now on to District 9. Everyone that has seen it said it was interesting or alright, but no one was blown away for some reason and I don't understand it! I LOOOVED that movie and was more than impressed. The CGI was flawless and perfectly gritty. The story was perfect in my opinion. Some people said that beginning was slow, but it really wasn't. It kept a steady pace of background history and new information and was very well done. But the ending was insane. I literally watched with my jaw dropped and the last time that happened was during The Dark Knight. That's saying a lot.

Choice

Sometimes I feel a little overwhelmed with everything around me.

There are so many things that I'm interested in, but never enough time to full my cravings for them.

*New music
*Movies
*Nerdy computer stuff
*Anime
*Manga & comics
*Random geekery

There are just way too many things I want to learn more about and really get into, but not enough hours in a lifetime to do it all.

So I wonder.... is a little bit of everything better than a passionate dedication to only a few?

If A Song Could Get Me You - Marit Larsen

meh

I need to find a day job. As nice as it is to have a job where I do nothing for at least four hours of my shift, I really would like to start sleeping at night because I have too many things to do during the day.
When this next quarter starts I have a class at noon which will totally mess me up because I usually have church related activities in the afternoons which leaves me no time to sleep.

Boo for working.

A Little Love - Meaghan Smith

This song is pretty much how I always feel when... yeah. good stuff.

Balance

My Heart Has A Mind Of Its Own - Christian Bautista

"My heart has a mind of its own
Right or wrong it's gonna do
Only what it feel is true
I'll follow it where ever it goes
Anywhere it leads me to
My heart has a mind, mind of its own."

Christian Bautista is definitely my favorite male OPM artist.

Most people solely act upon the thoughts of their mind, but don't know how to listen to their hearts. I tend to act upon the call of my heart and don't put enough thought into my actions. It's a double-edged sword though. I find a lot of joy and gratification out of almost everything in my life, but not all my actions benefit me when it comes to the grind of everyday living in this world. I'm still tying to balance the equation, but it's getting there.

Robots

One of my favorite things to do when I'm bored is pretend like I'm a robot and keep on repeating, "I AM, A ROBOT. I HAVE, A ROBOT, BONER."

That's why I laughed so hard during this scene of 30 Rock...

ZzZz

You know how Superman draws his power from the sun and it can energize him out of the worst situation?

Well I'm exactly like that, except totally opposite.

I'm like the Zombie Superman. *SPOILER ALERT* In the upcoming Green Lantern comics there's going to be a new story arc titles Blackest Night where basically every famous DC Comics superhero who's died will come back to life in zombie form.

trying

It's not that I'm not passionate about anything...
It's just that I find joy in a multitude of things and I don't want to limit myself by focusing on one thing.

I'm not a big fan of duality at all. I live in the gray.

Screaming Infidelities - Joanna

oh yeah...

The sun is starting to rise later in the day now! It makes me happy =)

During the intermissions for the 7AM service yesterday the sun was just beginning to rise and it had a magnificent dark-orange look that beamed through the windows.

If only my hymnbook had a built-in camera!

I normally post interesting pictures, vids, and links on twitter, but this one is blog-worthy.

All ginger kids are crazy on the inside.

500

Went to watch 500 Days of Summer today. By myself.

The movie was great. Wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but still very good with a super dope soundtrack. I relate to Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character way to much =/

Well the super highlight of the movie was after it was done and I was walking to the car and I heard two teenage girls walking behind me saying, "That is so pathetic. That guy going by himself."

I couldn't stop smiling with an almost smug-like feeling inside. kekekeke
